The recently approved San Damiano Master Plan outlines the community’s vision for transforming the property into a welcoming public space focusing on sustainable design, passive recreation, and preserving the natural landscape. Key elements include:

• Providing a four-season community and event space
  
• Creating outdoor gathering spaces, accessible pathways, natural play areas, water access, a pier, event lawn, and ecofriendly parking
• Implementing stormwater management systems, and naturalized areas
• Offering programming related to the environment, recreation, culture and history

• Maintain the property’s beauty and functionality. Help care for San Damiano’s nearly 10 acres by supporting annual investments in tree pruning, landscaping, and essential repairs that enhance the environment and the visitor experience. FoSD is providing funding and in-kind services ($40,000 this year) to the City of Monona for property maintenance.
• Expand community programming. Support fostering partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and cultural organizations to enhance our community programming. FoSD leverages dedicated volunteers and supplies the funding to keep the programming active and vibrant at San Damiano.
• Lay the groundwork for a capital campaign to realize San Damiano’s master plan and long-term future. Invest in professional leadership and expertise to enhance our organization’s operations, fundraising efforts, and partnerships, to start preparing for a capital campaign.
