Join us inside the Frank Allis House at San Damiano for two fascinating presentations by Ryan Buron, Ph.D. candidate in Wildlife Ecology at UW–Madison. Seating is limited to 49 guests per session. Please note that while the Frank Allis House retains its historic charm, it is not currently equipped with accessibility features and is not wheelchair accessible.
🕙 10:00 AM – Birds as Sentinels of Climate Change: Using Birds to Study a Changing Planet. This talk focuses on how birds—especially Wisconsin migratory species—are responding to climate change. It will highlight how we leverage community science data collected globally to monitor these changes.
🕚 11:00 AM – Birds in the 'Burbs: The Challenges and Opportunities for Migratory Birds in Urban Landscapes - This presentation addresses how urban environments are reshaping bird habitats. It will discuss the challenges migratory birds face in cities and explore opportunities to enhance urban habitats for these species.
Ryan Buron studies avian ecology, phenological mismatches, and human impacts on birds, with a focus on boreal forest bird communities. He teaches courses at UW–Madison including Birds of Southern Wisconsin and Exploring Biology.
